CONGRATS OCMS Wind Ensemble!
KMEA Lage Ensemble Performance Assessment
Exactly what is the KMEA Larege Ensemble Performance Assessment, also known as LEPA? The Kentucky Music Educator’s Association annually holds a Large Ensemble Perforance Assessment. KMEA is an educational professional organization for concert performance ensembles. KMEA proudly states that in offering their assessments, to all groups at all levels, they have designed events that afford the very maximum in educational, social performance and quality of life benefits to all participants.
The focus of the KMEA Large Ensemble Performance Assessment is to help students discover their creative strengths, individual talents and abilities, and foster a real sense of accomplishment. Through this Assessment, every group is given the opportunity to achieve, receive encouragement to reach higher, and be recognized for these accomplishments.
Each band is evaluated using a criterion based rating system (Novice, Apprentice, Proficient, and Distinguished). Each band is evaluated by three judges for their stage performance and one clinician works with the ensemble immediately following their performance. The three stage judge’s totals are then averaged and used to determine the bands final rating.
This year's KMEA LEPA will be held on Wednesday, March 20 at North Oldham High School. Our Wind Ensemble will perform at 11:30 am. The concert is free and open to the public and all friends and family of the OCMS Band Program are encouraged to come and support our students.
